‘Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children’ Trailer: Tim Burton’s New World Is Full Of Endearing Fantasy
  |  @   |

There is one thing you can count on from Tim Burton, and it’s that he has a knack for bringing out the art from the strange narrative. Though his most recent work has been a bag of mixed results, the filmmaker has stayed true to his style, never once wavering from it. And that really shows in the first new trailer for Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.

The film is an adaptation of the best-selling novel of the same name. Considering its title and plot, it seems like Burton was born to direct this film, which centers on a boy who is tasked with protecting a refuge for children with unusual abilities from those who seek to expose their sanctity. Check out the full trailer below, along with a poster for the movie.

Looking at the trailer, it isn’t really a return to form for the director. He’s still telling those stories about endearing oddballs, it’s just that some of his previous works just didn’t resonate with audiences. Alice In Wonderland‘s box office success gave way to a sequel. At the time, he was expected to direct Alice Through the Looking Glass, a job that eventually went over to James Bobin. Dark Shadows was less than memorable. And Frankenweenie got nominated for Best Animated Film at the Academy Awards. He went out of his comfort zone directing the biopic Big Eyes, which also didn’t fare too well with audiences, and got very little recognition on the awards front. But this first look at Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children shows that he is at his best when he is telling stories about oddballs.

After this, Burton will move on to the live-action Dumbo – just one of the many films Disney is transforming from animation to live-action.

The film stars Eva Green, Asa Butterfield, Ella Purnell, Chris O’Dowd, Allison Janney, Terence Stamp, Kim Dickens, Rupert Everett, Judi Dench, and Samuel L. Jackson.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children opens September 30, 2016.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

From visionary director Tim Burton, and based upon the best-selling novel, comes an unforgettable motion picture experience. Jake must figure out who is real, who can be trusted, and who he really is.
