‘Lobo’ Screenplay To Be Penned By ‘Wonder Woman’ Scribe
  |  @   |

With the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice a little over a week away, WB will no doubt be looking to add more DC Comic characters film adaptations to their current slate. But the studio won’t actually be looking too far to find a writer for the long-gestating Lobo, one of DC’s lesser known characters. According to new reports Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman, Pan) will be the new screenwriter.

More on the story below.

The Wrap was the first to report on the story. This would be the third collaboration between Fuchs and Warner Bros. The writer was hired to write Wonder Woman, which is currently under production, and previously wrote Pan, which was critically panned and a box office flop.

Fuchs will start from scratch and not use any of the previous drafts written by screenwriters like Don Payne. Brad Peyton was attached to direct, with Joel Silver on board as producer. Dwayne Johnson would have starred in the title role, but the project fell through. Peyton and Johnson would eventually reunite for San Andreas, and Johnson would move on to Shazam. Guy Ritchie was also once attached to direct. The hiring of Fuchs also shows how much faith the studio has in Wonder Woman.

For those who may not know who Lobo is, the muscular blue-skinned anti-hero was created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen. He is an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter who traveled the galaxy on his demonic muscle speeder bike. He made his first appearance in 1983, and has been seen in a couple of episodes of Superman: The Animated Series and Young Justice.

Fuchs is currently writing Luna Park for Paramount, Skydance, with Doug Liman directing and Tom Cruise starring in the lead role. He also does some acting on the side, and can next be seen in seen in the musical Damien Chazelle’s La La Land, with Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.
