Disney has released the latest trailer for Alice Through the Looking Glass. Directed by James Bobin, the film follows Alice (Mia Wasikowska) who needs to return to the realm of the Underland where she discovers that the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) is madder than usual, haunted by past events that he refuses to reveal.
Wasikowska, Depp, Anne Hathaway, and Helena Bonham Carter all return to reprise their original roles, while they will be joined by newcomers Sacha Baron Cohen, who will play the villainous embodiment of Time, and Rhys Ifans, who will play the Mad Hatter’s father. Check out the trailer below.

If you were a fan of the first film then you’ll probably be a fan of this one. There isn’t much to the plot itself but the production design looks shiny and colorful. Still not clear as to why Alice is in the loony bin, and the dialogue being in riddles can be a bit of a headache, although the true believers can look past that. If anything, Pink‘s cover of Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit” sounds really cool.
The sequel features the voices of Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen, Toby Jones, and Timothy Spall.
Alice Through the Looking Glass opens in theaters May 27th.
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
Alice Kingsleigh (Wasikowska) has spent the past few years following in her father’s footsteps and sailing the high seas. Upon her return to London, she comes across a magical looking glass and returns to the fantastical realm of Underland and her friends the White Rabbit (Sheen), Absolem (Rickman), the Cheshire Cat (Fry) and the Mad Hatter (Depp), who is not himself. The Hatter has lost his Muchness, so Mirana (Hathaway) sends Alice on a quest to borrow the Chronosphere, a metallic globe inside the chamber of the Grand Clock which powers all time. Returning to the past, she comes across friends – and enemies – at different points in their lives, and embarks on a perilous race to save the Hatter before time runs out. Presented in Digital 3Dâ„¢, Real D 3D and IMAX® 3D, Disney’s “Alice Through the Looking Glass” opens in U.S. theaters on May 27, 2016.
