We’ve seen horror movie directors make animated shorts to help promote video games in the past, such as House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects director Rob Zombie’s Assassin’s Creed Unity short.
Now Cabin Fever, Hostel, and The Green Inferno director Eli Roth has directed an animated short for the upcoming Dark Souls III, and you can check it out below.
Developed by acclaimed Japanese developer FromSoftware and directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, DARK SOULS III is the latest chapter in the critically acclaimed DARK SOULS series with its trademark sword and sorcery combat and rewarding action RPG gameplay. Players will travel across a wide variety of locations in an interconnected world of unrelenting challenge and deep RPG gameplay as they search for a way to survive the coming apocalypse.
Dark Souls III continues to push the boundaries with the latest, ambitious chapter in the critically-acclaimed and genre-defining series. As fires fade and only embers remain, journey once more into a world filled with more daunting and colossal enemies and environments. Players will be immersed into a world of epic atmosphere and darkness through faster gameplay and amplified combat intensity. New to the series are the Battle Arts attacks. You’ll be able to deliver powerful attacks that will break through enemy defenses. Each weapon will have its own unique Battle Arts. Embrace The Darkness.
What exactly this short has to do with Dark Souls is unclear at the moment, but it’s safe to assume that the guy, the witches, or even more likely all of them, will be killing you at some point during your stressed out adventuring.
