Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor In Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice Justice League

Justice League: Part One will start production in just a few short weeks, and the film seems to be set on the idea that the villain will be Darkseid. This would be the first time that Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Flash, Aquaman, and possibly Green Lantern will all be together on screen. The film recently added J.K. Simmons to play Commissioner James Gordon, but there is no word yet if Jena Malone will return to reprise her role as Barbara Gordon – her role was ultimately cut from the theatrical version of Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice and saved for the Ultimate Edition cut. However, it appears that one person who will not be returning is one of Superman’s greatest villains.

Jesse Eisenberg who played Lex Luthor in BvS has made a few comments about his supervillain role and his future in the DCEU. More on the story below.

Eisenberg told this to Business Insider:

I don’t know if they are so settled on where my character goes, I only hope I have another opportunity to work with these wonderful people and play this interesting character.

Well, at least, he is optimistic that he will get to work with Snyder and his crew again, though there has been a mixed to negative reaction about his performance as the nefarious billionaire. Some complained that he lacked the cunning and threatening presences that previous Luthor’s had, and traded all of that in for someone who is a spoiled whiny version of Mark Zuckerberg.

It was recently revealed that Luthor had made contact with an alien, as seen in the deleted scene released by WB.

While the actor may not have a role in Justice League: Part One, there is always the option of him appearing as a cameo. But that remains to be seen. We still don’t know much of anything about this film. The threat that brings the Justice League together hasn’t been confirmed, and it wouldn’t make much sense just to shoehorn in a cameo for the sake of it. If he did end up being in the film, it would only be to provide the newly assembled Justice League vital information on how to defeat Darkseid or whatever villain they face. Of course, if he doesn’t end up in the film at all, then I’m not sure if anyone would care.

Regardless, we will be getting more information in the coming months.

Justice League: Part One arrives in theaters on November 17, 2017.
