New ‘Suicide Squad’ Trailer Premieres During MTV Movie Awards

Warner Bros.’ next major DC Comics movie event Suicide Squad, a full-throttle action picture built around the premise of a group of supervillains being recruited by the government to take on dangerous assignments they can also be blamed for in case anything goes horribly wrong, recently entered a round of reshoots in an effort by the studio to add some fun and humor to what was shaping up to be a pretty grim flick.

The studio unveiled a new fast-paced trailer for the film during Sunday night’s MTV Movie Awards 2016. You can watch it here below.

This new trailer maintains the propulsive pacing and mirthful tone of the second trailer that was released back in January. The studio appears to be keeping crucial plot details under wraps for the time being, but it’s safe to say that things are going to get crazy even before the Joker shows up to make everything loonier. We get a lot more action this time around as well as some more comical one-liners and a few teaspoons of antihero camaraderie, made all the more interesting by the strange and exciting mixture of men, women, and monsters on this unorthodox team.

Written and directed by David Ayer (Fury), Suicide Squad stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Cara Delevingne, Jai Courtney, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Jay Hernandez, Karen Fukuhara, Adam Beach, and Common, and promises to hit theaters and leave a few scars on August 5, 2016.

It feels good to be bad”¦Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

  1. Idiotic idea to reshoot to make “funny.” Dark was the way to go.
