‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Won’t Be A Traditional Two-Part Film
  |  @   |

There has been a common theme for studios to turn the end of a film franchise into a two-part finale. Traditionally these two parters have the first half act as some sort of prologue with the final half being an explosive action-packed film.

However, Anthony and Joe Russo will be taking a different approach to Avengers: Infinity War Part I and Part II. Instead of the substandard film split into two parts, it seems as though they the two films won’t have much of anything to do with each other. Check out what they had to say below.

Speaking to iO9, Anthony Russo says that the two Avengers: Infinity War films are very different from each other:

“It’s not a part one and part two scenario, necessarily. They’re just two different expressions. I think it creates a misconception that we’re shooting them at the same time.”

Each titluar hero has their own respective story to tell, but for the Russos there is a through line that started with their own Captain America: Winter Soldier, and will continue on with their films.

Speaking on this, Anthony said:

“For us there’s a through line from Winter Soldier, through Civil War, right to Infinity War. In our mind, the storytelling arc moves that way.”

With Joe adding:

“There’s an overarching story that’s going to be told through all four films. And I think having the amount of characters we have in [Civil War] certainly prepares us to deal with probably triple the amount of characters in Infinity War.”

It’s not likely that all of the heroes we have seen will be featured in both parts of the Avengers films. What will probably happen, and this is pure speculation, is that the lesser known heroes or ones that have had as much time in the MCU will fight the good fight in Infinity War Part I, while the titular heroes from Phase One and/or the more popular ones will likely get to fight Thanos in Infinity War Part II. Again, this is just speculation.

Maybe we will get to see who is on that roster in the upcoming films. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige spoke about how the upcoming films have already set the pieces in place:

“Much of the groundwork has already been laid. That’s the truth. Doctor Strange will lay some more. Thor: Ragnarok will lay some more””but I think the majority of it is already there.”

Avengers: Infinity War Part I will open on May 4, 2018 and Avengers: Infinity War Part II will open on May 3, 2019.
