Zack Snyder‘s Justice League: Part One is beginning to look a lot like a reunion for Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man. A couple of weeks back J.K. Simmonsjoined the cast of the DCEU ensemble film as Commissioner Gordon.
And now Willem Dafoe, who played the Norman Osborn aka Green Goblin both in body and spirit in all three of Raimi’s Spider-Man films, will also be joining the cast. Check out what his role will be below.
THR was the first to report on the news but was unable to uncover the size of the role he will play, but it appears that he will play one of the good guys. One thing that is clear is that he will appear in both parts of the Justice League film. So knowing that it eliminates a few possibilities on who he could play, though some speculate that it could be Martian Manhunter. So start placing your bets.
Dafoe joins a pretty stacked cast of young and veteran actors. The film stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as the Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, and Amy Adams as Lois Lane.
Not much is known about the film beyond the “a threat beyond each member’s capabilities” description that was provided a few weeks back when Simmons was confirmed for the role of Commissioner Gordon.
While there have been reports that Warner Bros. was uneasy about the test reactions, the studio remained steadfast and stuck with Snyder, and commenced with production a few days ago. The studio is also being tight-lipped about who the villain will be, but the odds on favorite says that it will be Darkseid, who also got a tiny Easter Egg during the Knightmare sequence in Batman v Superman.
Dafoe has also appeared in The Grand Budapest Hotel, John Wick, John Carter and The Fault In Our Stars. The actor isn’t the only one who has appeared in a Marvel film and jumped shipped over to the DCEU. Both Simmons and Affleck appeared in Spider-Man and Daredevil, respectively. But it’s the same on the flip side as Ryan Reynolds went from being Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine to become Green Lantern in the titular film and then back to Deadpool in the rebooted titular film. Chris Evans famously played Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch in the short-lived Fantastic Four franchise before he became Captain America in eight films
Chris Terrio wrote the screenplay for Justice League. Deborah Snyder and Charles Roven will produce.
Justice League: Part One will hit theaters on Nov. 17, 2017, while Part Two is slated for release on June 14, 2019.
