May the 4th: When R2-D2 & C-3PO Visited ‘Sesame Street’
  |  @   |

It’s that special time of year again! The day when the gazillion Star Wars fans get to celebrate all things Jedi and Sith – May the 4th! In honor of this very special day, and to highlight the longevity of the popularity of the characters, via another pop culture phenomenon, here’s what happened when C-3PO and R2-D2 figured out “how to get to Sesame Street.”

Check out the clips below.

Being a guest on Sesame Street automatically means you have arrived. Only famous people get to hang with Big Bird, Cookie Monster, and Grover. And apparently famous droids do, too.

Three years after Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and 6 months before The Empire Strikes Back, on January 31st, 1980, season 11 episode 1364, C-3PO and R2-D2 (Anthony Daniels and NOT Kenny Baker – that R2 was remote-controlled) had landed and were in need of some refreshment. Maria, Luis, Big Bird, and friends greeted the droids and gave them some oil from the Fix-It Shop. R2-D2 was on a secret mission and had to deliver a message to someone in the neighborhood.

Later on, they helped Big Bird with her numbers, and Bob with his alphabet. Enjoy the clips and…

May the 4th be with you!
