Star Wars Day: ‘Hamilton’ Creator Performs ‘Jabba Flow’ With J.J. Abrams
  |  @   |

It’s May 4, otherwise known to Jedi, Sith Lords, Bounty Hunters, and Younglings as Star Wars Day, aka “May the 4th.” Of course many of us are sharing our favorite Star Wars moments and photos on social media, but there is one video that getting fans of both the iconic film franchise and those of the musical hit Hamilton (which was just nominated for a record-breaking 16 Tony Awards) all a buzz. A new video has just surfaced showing Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda sharing his love of all things Star Wars by performing with J.J. Abrams “Jabba Flow,” the cantina song that he wrote for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Check out the video here below.

The video was a part of Ham4Ham, a special lottery system that helps fans get tickets to the consistently sold-out Broadway show. Abrams said this to the crowd of Hamilton fans, who judging by the excited screams, were also fans of Star Wars:

“I came to see Hamilton about a year ago. I got to run into this gentleman at intermission. He as a joke said, “˜If you need music for the cantina, I’m your guy’. And I said, “˜You’re not gonna believe this but I need music for the Cantina.'”

Miranda then dropped some info that helped inspire the song he wrote:

“It’s actually in Huttese, Jabba the Hutt’s language. I went to a website that had all of the Huttese glossary terms and it translates as: No lover, lover, it wasn’t me. It’s literally a Shaggy intergalactic remix.”

One has to hope that if Rey, Finn, and Poe needed to visit Maz’s new place in the Rian Johnson-directed Episode VIII, that the band would also be there with new songs written by Miranda.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is out now on Blu-ray and Digital HD, and “Jabba Flow” is now available online at iTunes or StarWars.com.

Happy Star Wars Day, everyone!
