Watch Now: Bonkers Web Series ‘Year Of The Snake’
  |  @   |

If you enjoy watching extremely strange and unique web series, I’m happy to say that you are in for it today with Year of the Snake. What exactly “it” is, I cannot really say for sure. But whatever the hell it is, you’re definitely in for it!

The web series comes from director Nic Collins of Twin Visuals, who can explain it all much better than I. He calls it a “superhero, comedy, sci-fi, punk rock, genre-bending, web series,” which he describes as “Batman (1966) meets [Grant] Morrison’s Animal Man with some of [Jim] Starlin’s Silver Surfer” mixed with “a little Deadpool and The Venture Bros.” to top it all off. See? Madness!

You can read more about Year of the Snake and watch a trailer and the full series below.

Here’s a description of the web series:

Year of the Snake follows a lovable, childish alien named Snake who is sent to earth to kill a lonely stoner named V. V’s kindness makes Snake reconsider his mission, and they become the best of friends. As Snake and V band together to defeat the forces of evil, Snake learns that being a human is a little harder than he thought.

The scifi/comedy plays with subjects such as male privilege, online-dating, destiny, religion, comic book archetypes, gender stereotypes in film/television, simulation theory, and the existential crisis.

This one might not be for everyone, and it will take some time for some to get a feel for the series and adjust to the sheer strangeness of it all, but if it sounds like something that’s up your alley it’s definitely worth watching the nine short episodes you’ll find below.

Year of the Snake stars Patrick Lindhorst, Danny Backer, Audrey Nilssen, Orlando Lara, and Aaron Fronk. For more, you can visit its Tumblr page and its Facebook page.

UPDATE: If you dug Year of the Snake, are interested in owning it, and love to go old school, the web series has gotten a limited release on VHS. It’s available now, and can be found right here.
