‘Supergirl’ Casting For Their Superman
  |  @   |

Supergirl is going right for the ratings, as casting has gotten underway for the role of Clark Kent aka Superman! This show has been through some exciting changes recently, and now it will finally have the Man of Steel meet his cousin, Kara (Melissa Benoist) for the first 2 episodes of season 2. Up til now, Kara has only spoken to Clark Kent via computer, but no more! And…

I know who should be cast!

Casting directors should look no further than Brandon Routh. I know DC does not want to mix the movie and television genres, so Henry Cavill is out (although between gigs right now), but Superman Returns was a long time ago, he is already on the payroll, but most important of all…

It would connect the rapidly-growing multiverse currently expanding on The CW, the show’s new home.

I know. There is no mention of Superman and The Atom being related at all in the comics. But having had The Flash (Grant Gustin) already visit Kara in National City (of the other Earth), why can’t Clark Kent be Ray Palmer’s doppelgänger?

Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg said:

“Greg, Ali and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl. We cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape.”

It does seem like they are looking for someone new. But here’s hoping!

Okay. If not Routh, then Tom Welling (Smallville)? Supergirl is more than willing to go there, having cast Dean Cain (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) and Helen Slater (Supergirl) as Kara Zor-El’s adoptive parents.

Who do you think should play Superman?

Supergirl season 2 airs this fall on Monday nights on The CW.

  1. Since Routh is the Atom, I think Welling is definitely the way to go. I was never a huge fan of Smallville, but it would be great for all the fans of that show to see him again as the full-fledged Superman. I’m sure he’s up for it and they could do far worse. It would also be another great connection to add to the CW continuity (since they’ve already added John Wesley Shipp’s Flash to it, in more ways than one).
