Listen: ‘Ghostbusters’ Theme Song By Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliot
  |  @   |

When rebooting a film like Ghostbusters, there’s going to have to be a reboot of the film’s theme song. It’s inevitable. When it was announced that pop rock punk band Fall Out Boy would be collaborating with Missy Elliott on the track, many suspected that it would have a heavy contemporary mix. And they were right.

The single has just been released and depending if you are on board for Paul Feig‘s vision or not, you may or may not like it. Give it a listen below.

Personally, I kind of like it. Now is it better than the original performed by Parker Jr.? Nope. Not in the least bit. While I am not keen on the vocals, I found myself tapping my feet to the instrumentals. Obviously, there are those who would think that picking this song over the original would be blasphemous. No one would blame you for thinking that way. But there will be those who will not like the song from the moment the music starts.

Social media hasn’t been too receptive of the song, so I guess I am in the minority. But honestly, it could be a whole lot worse than this. So now that it has been released, why not give it a listen. Ghostbusters arrives July 15.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

Ghostbusters makes its long-awaited return, rebooted with a cast of hilarious new characters. Thirty years after the beloved original franchise took the world by storm, director Paul Feig brings his fresh take to the supernatural comedy, joined by some of the funniest actors working today – Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth. This summer, they’re here to save the world! The film is produced by Ivan Reitman and Amy Pascal, and written by Katie Dippold & Paul Feig, based on the 1984 film “Ghostbusters,” written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis and directed by Ivan Reitman.

Ghostbusters arrives July 15.

  1. Trying to remain hopeful that the movie is better than current trailers indicate but this theme? I’m having flashbacks to Batdance. Not good…
