Below you’ll find the solicitations information and cover artwork for all of the Dynamite Entertainment comic book titles that were released on June 22nd, 2016. This week it’s all about Bond. James Bond. Okay, there’s some Red Sonja and Grumpy Cat, too. But for me, it is just a 007 week.
Grumpy Cat & Pokey #5 Writers: Ben McCool, Ben Fisher, Derek Fridolfs
Artist Names: Steve Uy, Ken Haeser, Derek Fridolfs $3.99
More wacky antics of the world’s most curmudgeonly kitty! Grumpy and Pokey are left alone in the house to explore the magical, otherworldly force that humans appear to worship: the internet! And after their discovery that cats dominate the internet, what’s to stop Grumpy Cat from hatching a plan to dominate the world? Daydreams abound of a planet without humans, while the development of other scientific advances, robots and time machines, create chaos for our favorite felines!
James Bond #7
Writer: Warren Ellis
Artist: Jason Masters
Cover Artist: Dom Reardon $3.99
After World War Two, army intelligence groups created ghost cells called ‘stay-behinds’ across Europe in the event of a Warsaw Pact surge. ‘EIDOLON’ is the story of a SPECTRE stay-behind structure – ghost cells of SPECTRE loyalists acting as sleepers until the time is right for a SPECTRE reformation and resurgence. The time is now.
This is the first issue in a new arc. The last six issues were the first time James Bond was in comic form in twenty years! Without a doubt, Ellis and Masters create an amazing duo that brings Ian Fleming’s superspy to life in sequential art for a new generation. If you’re new to the series, this is an excellent jumping on spot!
In the second of our two-part finale, the Hyrkanian forces clashes, sister against brother, in bloody civil war for the Falcon Throne. Revelations, explosions, betrayals, and triumph await as the soul of Hyrkania – and Sonja herself – hang in the balance.
>Writer: Warren Ellis
Artist: Jason Masters $19.99
After a mission of vengeance in Helsinki, James Bond returns to London and assumes the workload of a fallen 00 Section agent. His new mission takes him to Berlin, presumably to break up an agile drug-trafficking operation. But Bond has no idea of the forces ranged in secret against him, the full range of an operation that’s much scarier and more lethal than he could possibly imagine.
Berlin is about to catch fire… and James Bond is trapped inside. Dynamite Entertainment proudly presents VARGR, the debut storyline in the all-new James Bond comic book series, as crafted by masterful writer Warren Ellis (Transmetropolitan, The Authority) and artist Jason Masters (Batman Incorporated, Guardians of the Galaxy).
This marks the completion of the first arc of James Bond comics in two decades! It’s received rave reviews from other artists and writers and with good reason. This is the Bond that Ian Fleming created, a deeply troubled man with a penchant for things that could easily be called self-destructive. Full of flaws but dedicated to doing what needs to be done! I freaking loved this first run!
