HBO Clears Up Jon Snow Confusion With Infographic
  |  @   |

Something happened during the season six finale of Game of Thrones, “The Winds of Winter,” relating to Jon Snow, and it both answered a major question and created a little confusion. If you’re all caught up, you know what I’m talking about.

Well, HBO has seen the confusion and apparently it was not something that was meant to be answered in a later episode. Instead, they’ve released a detailed infographic that clears everything up. For those of you who are not caught up, spoilers will be on display moving forward. For everyone else, you can check out the infographic below.

The infographic was shared through the Making Game of Thrones blog. Here’s what the post had to say:

“The Winds of Winter” finally took us inside the Tower of Joy. Here’s a brief recap of what brought Ned there:

The only daughter of Rickard Stark, Lord of Winterfell, Lyanna Stark was engaged to marry Robert Baratheon. According to Littlefinger, eyebrows were raised at a tourney hosted at Harrenhal when Prince Rhaegar Targaryen rode past his own wife, Princess Elia Martel, and presented his winner’s crown of winter roses to Lyanna instead.

Sometime after, news spread that Rhaegar had abducted Lyanna. When her brother Ned made his way to Dorne and found the Tower of Joy, he discovered his sister, Lyanna, drenched in blood and sweat on a bed. “Promise me, Ned,” she whispered as a brown-eyed newborn was placed into her brother’s arms.

And of course, that newborn baby was Jon Snow, and we finally knew once and for all who his mother was. But while we did finally find out the identity of his mother, it wasn’t perfectly clear who his father was. Some thought it was Rhaegar Targaryen, while others felt it was Robert Baratheon.

So HBO has released this handy infographic which makes it clear once and for all who Jon’s parents were. Well…sorta clear, anyway. There’s a whole lot going on in that image down there. The infographic also shows the various relations of many names of some of the top houses, including the Starks, the Targaryens, and the Lannisters. Just start with Jon Snow and you’ll be good to go.

You are now free to go completely crazy with theories on what this means for the character heading in the final stretch of the show.
