There are only a few more days left until the release of Star Trek Beyond, and Paramount is pulling out all the stops to make sure that you go and see this film. If we are to base our reactions from critics who’ve already saw it last week, Beyond looks to be an improvement if not the best film of the franchise since it got rebooted back in 2009. But just in case you still aren’t sure whether or not to see it, the studio has released one final short trailer that puts an emphasis on how much fun you will have.
Check out the final trailer here below.
We won’t go too far in depth in breaking down the trailer, which appeared first on the official Star Trek Movie Facebook page. That would just be taking away from how exciting it looks. If recent sequels have shown us, Star Trek Beyond is just the kind of film this summer full of sequels needs. Most sequels have been failing to meet expectations, so let’s hope that the early buzz and new look of the trailer will be enough to break that streak of bad sequels.
This trailer also comes after word that there will be a Star Trek 4 and that Chris Hemsworth will return to reprise his role as George Kirk.
Star Trek Beyond stars Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, and Karl Urban, alongside newcomers to the franchise Idris Elba and Sofia Boutella. Directed by Justin Lin, and written by Pegg and Doug Jung, the film opens July 22, 2016.
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
“Star Trek Beyond,” the highly anticipated next installment in the globally popular Star Trek franchise, created by Gene Roddenberry and reintroduced by J.J. Abrams in 2009, returns with director Justin Lin (“The Fast and the Furious” franchise) at the helm of this epic voyage of the U.S.S. Enterprise and her intrepid crew. In “Beyond,” the Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.”
