‘xXx: Return Of Xander Cage’ Trailer: Vin Diesel Kicks Some Ass While Trying To Look Dope
  |  @   |

Vin Diesel is really no stranger to bringing back his dying film franchises back from the dead, Fast and Furious and Riddick being the two, and now we can look forward to him bringing back xXx.

Paramount has released the first trailer for xXx: Return of Xander Cage. Diesel returns to play the title character, extreme sports star, and sometimes spy, because if there is anything we need more of its Diesel in an action movie. Check out the trailer below.

While it is a teaser trailer, it does hit all the notes that the first xXx was known for. Basically just crazy insane wild stunts in exotic locations and blockbuster action sequences. But what is interesting to see is that the very people who are behind this program seem to be recruiting more people into the fold, each of them with their own unique talents which include karate, getaway driving, soccer (?) and DJing (?). Yeah none of it really makes sense, but hey, if you watched the first film, then you know that’s pretty typical, and just one of those films where if you go into it with zero expectations you might walk out pleasantly surprised.

Obviously, it’s too early to tell if this movie will be any good. After all, it is getting a January release, which is a known dumping ground for many studios. Normally films released that early in the year end up being giant disappointing flops. Deadpool pretty much proved that theory wrong, so let’s see if it can work for Diesel. I imagine that if it did, we will be getting to see more xXx films.

But if you really want the film in a nutshell, then I’ll just pull a line from Samuel L. Jackson‘s voiceover in this trailer: “Let me simplify it for you. Kick some ass, try to look dope while you’re doing it.” I mean, it’s no Marvel Cinematic Universe or DCEU. It’s Vin Diesel’s film franchise making another comeback.

The film also stars Ruby Rose, Nina Dobrev, Donnie Yen, Rory McCann, Tony Jaa, Deepika Padukone, and Kris Wu.

Directed by D. J. Caruso, xXx: Return Of Xander Cage opens in theaters on January 20, 2017.
