Honest Trailers Watchmen

Before watching characters from Zack Snyder’s DC Cinematic Universe have cameos in Suicide Squad this week, let’s revisit one of his earlier works. Before he turned the beloved comic The Dark Knight Returns into the universally polarizing Batman v. Superman, he turned the MOST beloved comic all time into… a universally polarizing movie. This week, Screen Junkies tackles Snyder’s 2009 adaptation of the Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons classic, Watchmen, and gives it the Honest Trailers treatment.

Check out the Honest Trailer below.

Watch as Snyder converts your favorite source material into rehashed Matrix action scenes, all while Moore calls it, “regurgitated worms.” As narrator Jon Bailey points out, it’s kinda hard to take him seriously when he freely admits to believing in an ancient snake god. Meet some of your favorite comic book characters’ darker alter egos like The Comedian – Captain America, if he were a dick. And Rorschach – Batman if he were a dick… and Dr. Manhattan – Superman… if he had a giant blue swinging dick. Seriously it’s there the entire movie… you can’t look away… SOLAR ECLIPSE”¦ SOLAR ECLIPSE!!!

Watch as the cast completely becomes their comic counterparts, especially Jackie Earle Haley, who totally deserved an Oscar nomination. And Malin Akerman… you know, I’m not going to bash her. I met her at NYCC last year, she’s a lovely person! So sit back and enjoy for nearly three hours as Snyder figures out what elements he’ll use to make his Superman films, like rain, sex, Jesus allegories, graphic violence, city destruction, and minor characters with the same name… MARTHA!!! And if that’s not enough, check out the Director’s Cut… and Ultimate Edition… kinda makes you think Snyder just makes movies intentionally disappointing so he can rake in huge DVD/Blu-ray sales.

Starring: Harvey Birdman, Homeless Man Man, The Killing Joke, Elon Musk, and Don’t You Know? I’m Electro! New Title: Dr. Manhattan Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Dong. Truth be told, I absolutely loved this movie, and felt it was extremely faithful to the comic.

Screen Junkies has close to 5.6 million subscribers on YouTube and releases new Honest Trailers every Tuesday. Suicide Squad, not directed by Zack Snyder premieres this week in theaters everywhere.
