The Flash Supergirl Header

I knew it!!!!

Ever since Melissa Benoist was cast as Supergirl, I have been hoping for a musical episode with Grant Gustin of The Flash. It looks like my dream of dreams is about to come true. It was announced at the Television Critic’s Association Press Tour today that the 2 shows will have a musical crossover, on top the 4-show crossover they will do with Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. This will be the musical icing on top of the crossover cake.

More below.

This amazingness was hinted at on Conan after SDCC last month, and I heartily agreed then as well. They have Jesse L. Martin (Rent), John Barrowman (Anything Goes), and Jeremy Jordan (Newsies) with powerful voices, and Carlos Valdes (Cisco) is a singer, too! Martin also recently sang on the show as his Earth-2 doppelgänger, who was a singer, not a cop.

Barry Allen has only crossed over to Supergirl once before on the March 28th episode. We knew that they were going to do a massive 4-show crossover sometime next season, now that Supergirl moved from CBS to The CW.

“We’ve got such talented actors, 15 years from now when the last of these shows is going off the air, that would be a big regret [if we didn’t do it] – it’s too much fun not to,” Sarah Schechter noted.

Musical episodes are always awesome on series television. Buffy The Vampire Slayer‘s “Once More With Feeling” is one of the best episodes ever. Scrubs and Grey’s Anatomy also had super popular, incredibly wonderful musical episodes.

Supergirl returns Monday, October 10, 2016 on The CW. The Flash returns Tuesday, October 11th, 2016 also on The CW.

  1. The people at the helm of the DC entertainment business are really, really good at producing awful content. Sad.

  2. I you like Glee, watch that instead of forcing others to endure a musical episode of a show that is not a musical. Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Scrubs and Grey’s Anatomy are not good examples of a good musical episode. I stopped watching all three of those after that nonsense.

  3. I can agree with you on the movie side, but I’ve been pretty happy with the television, especially Flash.

  4. Come now. Nobody is forcing anyone. Lots of people like musicals. Some don’t. It’s all good.
