Yesterday, we saw a couple of set photos from Thor: Ragnarok that showed Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston as Thor and Loki, respectively, dressed in civilian clothing. One photo saw the Asgardian god of thunder holding a card with the street address that read “177A Bleecker St.” The photos indicate that our two favorite demigods have found themselves in New York for some reason, and it appears that they won’t be alone.
Spoilers are ahead, unless you’ve already figured out who it is based on the headline. Check out who has joined Hemsworth and Hiddleston on the set of Thor: Ragnarok, below.
So if you are here, you must be interested in finding out the identity of this person. Well, the Asgardian who will be joining the two is none other than Anthony Hopkins. The actor has played Thor’s and Loki’s father Odin for the past two films. When we last saw Odin, he wasn’t really himself as Loki morphed into him to fool Thor, and then transformed back into his original form and gave a deceitful smile to the audience.
But this Instagram photo that comes to us from Glenn Hunt shows Odin in less than noble garb. He appears to be a hobo:
It’s not clear if Loki, himself, banished Odin to Earth – like the All-Father did to Thor in the first film – or if this is just another disguise to fool Thor into thinking that his missing dad has been on Earth – assuming he found out what happened to him in the film. Maybe they are searching for their father who may help them get home, or maybe they are searching for him to bring him home. So many questions. Regardless, Hopkins looks like he is enjoying himself as he makes faces for the camera.
An official plot synopsis has yet to be revealed, but based on the subtitle, it will involve something apocalyptic. In Norse mythology, Ragnarök is a series of future events, including a great battle, foretold to ultimately result in the death of a number of major figures. The film will also weave in elements from the Planet Hulk story arc as a sizzle reel revealed Hulk donning Gladiator armor. Other than that, all we know about the film is that it will be a cosmic buddy film that sees Thor and Hulk going on a journey across the cosmos. But we will be sure to update you on any developments should they come in.
Thor: Ragnarok opens in theaters on November 3, 2017
