‘Fantastic Beasts’ Preview Fan Event To Hit 18 Cities Around The World
  |  @   |

It’s real easy to see why everyone is excited for another Harry Potter film. Though his story has ended, the franchise will continue to live on through spinoffs and prequels.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is the first of those films, centering on Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) a Magizoologist of the early 1920s, whose works helped inspire the textbook seen in the first Harry Potter film. Now the film will give us a look at his adventures. But before all of that could happen, Warner Brothers is pleased to announce that they will be holding a free global fan event in 18 major cities around the world. More on the story and a video below.

Due to the still growing popularity, WB has added more cities for this event. In addition to New York, Los Angeles, London, Sao Paulo, Rome, and Mexico City, the following eight North American cities have been added: San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, Orlando, Washington D.C., Toronto, and Atlanta; in addition to the following four cities internationally: Paris, Santiago, Bogota, and San Juan.

Here’s an excerpt from the official press release:

Attendees will first be treated to a never-before-seen reel featuring some of the thrilling moments from the much-anticipated film. Talent from “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” will be joining the celebration, in person, at two IMAX theatres, in London and Los Angeles, to welcome the fans.

The footage shown, as well as the Q&A, will also be streamed live online at www.facebook.com/fantasticbeastsmovie so eager fans around the world can share in the excitement. Fans at each location will be presented with a specially designed “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” exclusive t-shirt, commemorating the worldwide event, as well as a collectible mini-poster.

Fans attending the events at the selected theaters are also invited to stay and watch a never before seen presentation of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in IMAX.

It’s more than obvious that this is one last attempt for the studio to drive up the hype for the film before its release. In fact, it is a pretty common practice to do since we’ve seen it done with films like Avatar, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, and much more. So a little extra promotion doesn’t hurt.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident”¦were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.

“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” also stars Katherine Waterston (“Steve Jobs,” “Inherent Vice”) as Tina; Tony Award winner Dan Fogler (“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”) as Jacob; Alison Sudol (“Dig,” “Transparent”) as Tina’s sister, Queenie; Ezra Miller (“Trainwreck”) as Credence; two-time Oscar nominee Samantha Morton (“In America,” “Sweet and Lowdown”) as Mary Lou; Oscar winner Jon Voight (“Coming Home,” TV’s “Ray Donovan”) as Henry Shaw, Sr.; Ron Perlman (the “Hellboy” films) as Gnarlack; Carmen Ejogo (“Selma”) as Seraphina; Jenn Murray (“Brooklyn”) as Chastity; young newcomer Faith Wood-Blagrove as Modesty; and Colin Farrell (“True Detective”) as Percival Graves.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will hit theaters on November 18, 2016. Be sure to check out the trailer that hit yesterday if you missed it.
