‘Black Panther’ Adds Forest Whitaker, Daniel Kaluuya, and Florence Kasumba
  |  @   |

The cast of Marvel’s Black Panther continues to be more impressive with each new actor that is adds to its credits. Forest Whitaker (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Daniel Kaluuya (Sicario), and Florence Kasumba (Captain America: Civil War) will now join Chadwick Boseman, who will play the title character, as well as Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, and Winston Duke. Check out who they will play here below.

Variety was the first to report that Whitaker would be taking on the role of Zuri, an elder stateman in Wakanda. In the comics, Zuri is a warrior and loyal companion to T’Chaka, and later serves as T’Challa’s confidant. This level of casting shouldn’t surprise anyone considering that Marvel has been adding some A-listers with excellent acolytes. As for Kasumba, she will return to reprise her MCU role as Ayo, a member of the Dora Milaje – the Wakandan elite guard that protects the King. Though it was a brief appearance in Captain America: Civil War, she quickly became a fan favorite when she told Black Widow “Move or you will be moved.” She will likely be seen with Danai Gurira, who plays Okoye, the head of the elite Wakandan secruity force called the Dora Milaje. Kaluuya will play T’Challa confidant W’Kabi; in the comic,s W’Kabi was the chief of Wakandan security as well as T’Challa’s loyal second-in-command.

Black Panther will take place after the events of Captain America: Civil War, with T’Challa know having to be the king of Wakanda after his father was killed in a bomb that was set off by Zemo. According to Nyong’o, two foes work together to take Black Panther’s throne, so T’Challa gets the help of the C.I.A. and the Dora Milaje to try and defeat the enemy.

Those two foes will be played by Jordan and Duke, as Kilgrave and Man-Ape, respectively.

Whitaker has quite a resume having won an Academy Award for his role in The Last King Of Scotland, and can next be seen starring alongside Amy Adams in Arrival, and Lucasfilm’s highly anticipated Star Wars standalone film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Kaluuya is best known for his role in the highly talked about British TV series Black Mirror and made his first major American film debut in Sicario.

Directed by Ryan Coogler and Joe Robert Cole, Black Panther is set to open in theaters on February 16, 2018.
