NYC 2016 Cosplay

After a few years of going to SDCC and then due to work and tickets being almost impossible to get, took a few years off, this year I was lucky enough to get a 4-day pass to NYCC. So, I packed my bags and headed to New York. I took tons of photos at the Con of the convention floor, panels, and, of course, the cosplay. Check it out here below in the image galleries.

For the most part, my whole time at New York Comic-Con focused around Doctor Who and other BBC America shows. I got to see a panel with a decent Q&A with Matt Smith, Jenna Coleman, and Alex Kingston talking about their time on Doctor Who. I was also able to make it to The Theater at Madison Square Garden for the BBC America showcase, including a early screening of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, which I really enjoyed and will be watching once the season starts in a few weeks. I followed that with a Class and Doctor Who panels, giving us little teases of the upcoming series and the Christmas Special for Doctor Who, all about the super heroes.

I then attended a panel all about kick ass ladies on the big screen, with the new Resident Evil and Underworld movies, with a few members of the cast and directors. Kate Beckinsale was cursing up a storm and Milla Jovovich and Ali Larter were having a good time making fun of their male counterparts in their movie. I’m not a huge fans of these movies, but I always end up seeing them and they look like they could be decent; my only concern is that they both get released in January, which is never a good sign.

I also lucked out and got into the Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. panel with my friend, and they were going to show the newest episode a few days earlier, but we ended up leaving because my friend was a few episodes behind and didn’t want to get spoiled.

And the last panel I was able to get into, once again, literally one of the last few people to get into the room, for the series of Black Mirror on Netflix, and we were treated to an early screening of one of the new episodes that get released in a few weeks. Enjoyed the episode and even better, it was the episode directed by TRS alumni Dan Trachtenberg.

I spent most of Friday and Saturday going around taking pictures of some of the great cosplay, toys and collectibles, and booths around the convention floor and into Artist Alley. There were lots of Deadpool, Harley Quinn (no surprise with either), some great Stranger Things cosplay and seemed to be lots of Overwatch cosplay as well.

Overall, I had a good time. It’s not nearly as busy as SDCC, which is sort of nice, but it’s also missing the big Hollywood influence like SDCC. Tickets are getting difficult to get, so going back might be a chore, but I am sure I would like to go back again at some point.

Thanks to everyone who was nice enough to let me take pictures of your great costumes; there’s some very creative people out there.
