‘Arrival’ Trailer: Amy Adams Translates Alien Language To Prevent All Out War
  |  @   |

There has been a lot of good hype surrounding Denis Villeneuve‘s Arrival, starring Amy Adams. It’s been making a few stops at film festivals, with audiences raving that it is one of the best sci-fi films to date. Now with its release just a few short weeks away, Paramount Pictures is making one last marketing push to get you to see the film. A new trailer has been released, revealing just how stressful translating an alien language can be and how their arrival can create global tension.

Check out the new trailer here below.

The final trailer reveals just how much pressure there is to prevent a giant catastrophe from happening. Here Amy Adams plays one of the world’s top linguists, who is tasked with translating an alien language when multiple UFOs hover over varying nations. Many governments are anxious and worried that these new arrivals intend on harming the populous.

As we have seen in previous trailers, Arrival isn’t so much about invasion or destruction, it’s more focused on human reactions and their willingness to work together under dire circumstances. It is that aspect that separates itself from any other contact films we’ve seen.

Judging by the reviews from those who saw it at TIFF and Beyond Fest, Arrival actually has a shot at earning a few Oscar nominations. This wouldn’t be the first time for the sci-fi genre. The Martian was the most recent sci-fi film to be recognized by the Academy, earning seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Jeremy Renner, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Forest Whitaker also star.

Arrival is scheduled to be released on November 11, 2016.

Here’s the official synopsis:

When mysterious spacecraft touch down across the globe, an elite team – lead by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams) – are brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers – and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.
