Must See: Tim Burton’s ‘Corpse Bride’ Cake (Video)
  |  @   |

Anyone who has watched some Food Network in their day has likely seen some kind of competition in which a variety of amazing cake creations are made. Zoe’s Fancy Cakes is someone who would likely do well in competitions such as those.

For this Halloween season, the cake maker’s YouTube channel has been sharing some fitting tutorial videos. One of the videos shows you how to make a cake version of the Bride from Tim Burton‘s stop-motion feature Corpse Bride. Though I’m going to go ahead and assume most mortal beings such as you and I would not fare well in trying to pull the cake off, as it is a truly impressive piece of work.

Continue below to check out the video.

If interested, you can find a bunch of Zoe’s Fancy Cakes’ videos over at the YouTube channel. These include the other two Halloween videos from this year—a Five Nights at Freddy‘s cake and a Nightmare Before Christmas cake topper—as well as lots of past Halloween videos and many other types of cakes ranging from Star Wars characters, to Disney and Pixar characters, to Marvel and DC characters, and many others.

Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride cake. In this video I make a doll cake of the Corpse Bride from the Tim Burton movie ‘Corpse Bride’. I have made this video for Halloween 2016. I use fondant and laped modelling paste in this video. You can find links to products used below, as well as a basic sponge cake recipe to get you started :)

Basic Victoria sponge cake recipe –
Ingredients:
225g butter
225g caster sugar
4 eggs
225g self-raising flour
1 tsp vanilla essence

Method:
Cream together the butter and sugar, then beat in the eggs and vanilla essence. Once smooth and creamy, fold in the flour.
Pour in to a greased cake tin and bake in the oven at 180degrees for approximately 40 minutes, until golden brown and a knife comes out clean.

Buttercream recipe –
600g icing sugar, sifted
300g unsalted or salted butter, softened
optional flavouring
Beat the ingredients together.

Chocolate ganache recipe –
– To make chocolate ganache you can simply melt chocolate with double cream in a glass bowl above a pan of boiling water ( I use the hob to heat the water, but be sure to turn this right down once the chocolate begins to melt so it doesn’t burn). I use the ratio of 3 to 1 chocolate to double cream
