Geek Peek: New ‘Beauty and The Beast’ Images Dance Into Your Nostalgic Heart
  |  @   |

A lot of Disney’s live-action reimaginings of their animated classics contemporize tales as old as time. That will be no different when they release their live-action adaptation of the animated favorite Beauty and the Beast.

Directed by Bill Condon, the film centers on Belle (Emma Watson) a bright and young bookworm who is the guest/prisoner of a cursed beast (Dan Stevens). We pretty much know how the story will play out, however, there will be a few new twists to help distinguish the two features apart from each other. A bunch of new images from the movie have been released, and you can check them out below.

The images will appear in the upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly.

It’s hard not to be amazed at how gorgeous Watson looks in that yellow gown. She practically looks like she was born to play the character. In fact, she’s been a fan of the film for as long as she could remember. Watson told EW, “I can’t even think how many times I watched it as a child I knew all the words by heart. I knew all the songs by heart.” So now she is putting that love for her film to some very good use as she gets to play one half of the title role.

As for Stevens, he is looking quite beastly, right down to the claws on his feet. Even the design patterns on his blue suit make him look quite dashing. Of course, this is just a few images, and we have yet to see some nice footage from the film since all we have seen so far is a teaser trailer with some familiar tunes.

The other images provided give us a look at some of the interiors of the castle like the library or even the tavern where patrons sing about how there is “no one like Gaston.” Now that Disney’s Pete’s Dragon is well behind them, the marketing campaign can turn their attention to their next live-action adaptations of their classic films, and there will be a lot of them. Though Beauty and the Beast is still a couple of months away from release, the new images tell us we can expect more from the marketing campaign soon. Hopefully that means a trailer will be released in the near future, at least before the end of the year.

Also seen in the images is Emma Thompson as the kind-hearted teapot, Mrs. Potts; Ian McKellen as the uptight clock, Cogsworth; Ewan McGregor as a rebellious maître d’ candelabra, Lumiere; Luke Evans as muscularly arrogant Gaston with Josh Gad as Gaston’s stooge LeFou; Kevin Kline as Belle’s father Maurice; and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Babette, a featherduster.

Opening in theaters on March 17, 2017, Beauty and the Beast also stars Stanley Tucci as neurotic piano, Cadenza, a new character created for the film; and Audra McDonald as Garderobe, the wardrobe.
