Not only is the Netflix original series Stranger Thingsa great new show you should definitely check out if you haven’t already, but it’s also perfect for mash-ups! No surprise given the overflowing ’80s nostalgia the show delivers.
A pair of mash-ups have arrived in the past month or so. The first brings the characters of Stranger Things into the animated world of Peanuts for a Charlie Brown Christmas mash-up. The second takes a song by Donald Glover’s Childish Gambino and sets it to that memorable Stranger Things theme. Both of these mash-ups can be enjoyed below.
The Charlie Brown video arrived a few days ago, but I simply couldn’t bring myself to write about something Christmas-related before Halloween had come and gone at least. The official Netflix YouTube channel even said “˙ƃuıɥʇʎɹÇÊŒÇ uoıʇsÇnb sn ƃuıʞÉɯ sı uÊop Çpısdn Çɥʇ ÉŸo uoısuÇɯıp pɹıɥʇ sıɥʇ ‘ÉŸÇıɹƃ pooƃ” in the comments section of the video.
The Childish Gambino track has been around for a month, so some of you may have already heard it. I’m a fan of Glover as an actor—and am excited along with everyone else to see him as Lando Calrissian in the Han Solo Star Wars spinoff—but can’t say I’m very familiar with his music. That said, there’s no denying that the two pieces of music work surprisingly well together. That one is better listened to when not at work or near children, if you worry about such things.
Stranger Things was given a season two by Netflix in August, and is in production right now. The sophomore effort will take place a year after the events of the first season. Yesterday it was confirmed, much to the delight of fans, that Millie Bobby Brown would be returning for the new season. Brown plays fan favorite Eleven, a mysterious young girl who appeared out of nowhere (seen above as an Eggo waffle-obsessed kiosk psychiatrist) in the show’s first season.
Season two will be released sometime next year.

In this Peanuts/Stranger Things mash-up, Will Byers returns home from the upside down, but can’t seem to shake off that traumatic experience.
