Reports of the Internet Apocalypse: A Novel
The Internet Apocalypse Trilogy
Hardcover | Kindle
Written by Wayne Gladstone
Thomas Dunne Books | St. Martin’s Press
Release Date: November 1st, 2016

Wayne Gladstone, the fictional character, is in hiding somewhere in the world, after simultaneously becoming the poster boy for the internet apocalypse rebellion, while also being wanted for terrorism and murder. Special Agent Aaron N. Rownsdower, rather “former” special agent, is on the hunt for Gladstone once again. But this time, he is here to help. Teaming up with a movie producer making a film about Gladstone (and with another motive), they set out to prove his innocence, while exposing the conspiracy and trying not to die.

Wayne Gladstone, the author, concludes his incredibly refreshing and eerily possible trilogy with Reports on the Internet Apocalypse. A billionaire presidential candidate is raging against the status quo of the current administration, who are obviously at fault for the disappearance and now spotty (and controlled) reappearance of the internet. Sound familiar?

This is Rownsdower’s story more than anyone else. As with all characters and humans, walking in his shoes helps one understand the complexities within. When he (and we) meet Gladstone again, it affects us greatly.

Conspiracy theorists, mystery aficionados, and just people looking for a nice, juicy novel to pick up should love this. Even without reading the other two (although I really recommend it), there is enough explanation to get anyone deeply involved in this unique story. It is really difficult to do an original apocalyptic story, and Gladstone managed to do it, and do it well.

I devoured this. I cannot give anything away, but the conclusion is a nail-biter and quite unexpected.

Official Synopsis:

In Reports on the Internet Apocalypse, the third and final installment of the Internet Apocalypse Trilogy, Gladstone, the would-be Internet Messiah, finds himself in exile from America, falsely accused of terrorism and murder. Meanwhile, a government Special Agent is hot on his trail and has joined forces with a first-time Hollywood producer bent on optioning Gladstone’s story for film.

When the World Wide Web returns in a highly compromised and commercialized state, possibly due to the efforts of a billionaire presidential candidate, Gladstone and his pursuers must collaborate in an attempt to reclaim a free and open Internet.

Reports on the Internet Apocalypse brings to an end the dystopian trilogy that imagines a world forced to face itself in real life.
