Disney has released the teaseriest kind of teaser for DuckTales, a reboot of the classic animated series which originally aired from 1987 to 1990.
The teaser doesn’t show a whole lot, but does feature a bit of a familiar tune, which might be enough to make watching it worth it. The video also shares a release window for the show, so fans can mark off on their calendars when to expect its arrival.
Continue below to watch the teaser.
The DuckTales reboot will include the same classic characters, Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck, and Donald’s nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Other returning characters include Launchpad McQuack, Webby Vanderquack, Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, and Magica De Spell.
The show is executive produced by Matt Youngberg (Ben 10: Omniverse), with Francisco Angones (Wander Over Yonder) handling story editor and co-producer duties, and Sean Jimenez (Gravity Falls) handling art director duties.
Season one of DuckTales will span 21 episodes, each of them 30 minutes long, as well as two special episodes which will be an hour long each.
While the video only says the show is coming in 2017, it’s been revealed that the release window will actually be the summer of 2017.
The original DuckTales was created by Carl Barks—who also created the Scrooge McDuck character along with many other inhabitants of the fictional shared universe city of Duckburg—and it was based on Uncle Scrooge and other comic books based in this shared duck universe. It followed Scrooge McDuck, his three grandnephews, and various other supporting characters as they try to protect (or try to steal), as well as add to, Scrooge’s vast fortune and status as the richest duck in the world.
