‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Trailer: Look Out! It’s A New Spider-Man
  |  @   |

Sony has released the first trailer for Jon WattsSpider-Man: Homecoming, starring Tom Holland as the title hero and Michael Keaton as Adrian Toomes aka The Vulture. It’s been months since the first footage dropped at the San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year, and now we are getting our first look at the new Webhead in action. But we are also getting our first look at the John Hughes-vibe that we’ve heard so much about.

Check out there trailer here below.

Set after the events of Captain America: Civil War, Homecoming will center on Peter Parker’s life both as a superhero and a high school student, and the juggling act he has to pull to maintain both. In the footage we saw at Comic-Con, we saw a tiny glimpse of Parker’s high school life, but also saw a tiny bit of action as well. In the image that was released earlier today, Holland said Spider-Man: Homecoming was “more a character piece about this kid who’s struggling to talk to girls and also struggling to save the city.”

In the trailer we see Parker stopping thieves wearing Avengers masks stealing from an ATM. Clearly unimpressed, Spidey goads them. We then are taken to a scene of Parker and Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) checking out Liz Allen (Laura Harrier), they try to look away before she or anyone else notices, but to no avail. Spidey then gets tips on how to become an Avenger from none other than Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), who isn’t really clear himself on how to become one. Some quick shots of some very cool action sequences are seen, and then it gets dark when Toomes delivers a threatening message. And then one really quick shot of Iron Man flying along side Spider-Man, who is, of course, doing some webslinging.

It’s all very exciting, and it raises my expectations on the film. If anything, the deal with Marvel having creative input really shows, as this version of Spider-Man returns to its comic book roots by having a younger teenage who is quick with the quips as he is with shooting webs.

The film also stars Zendeya as Michelle who may or may not be Mary Jane Watson; Tony Revolori as Parker’s high school bully Flash Thompson; Logan Marshall-Green, who may or may not be playing Shocker; Marisa Tomei as Aunt May; Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark aka Iron Man; Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan; Donald Glover, and more.

Written by Watts, Jonathan M. Goldstein, John Francis Daley, Christopher Ford, Chris McKenna, and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: Homecoming opens in theaters on July 7, 2017.
