When news that Tim Miller wouldn’t be returning to direct Deadpool 2, rumors of him wanting a bigger budget that focused more on the action started to emerge. Soon enough, the filmmaker became the target of vitriol and anger. Lately, Ryan Reynolds, who plays the title character, tried to squash some of those rumors by saying that the two had no animosity and any arguments being reported were just hearsay. But Miller has stayed quiet for the most part. Until now.

In a new interview, Miller is addressing those rumors head on, and echoing what Reynolds has said about their relationship while one set. More on the story below.

Miller spoke to CG Garage (via Collider) where he talked about those nasty rumors that started to emerge as soon as the split occurred:

Miller reiterated how he wanted to do the same thing as the first movie and also squashed the rumor that Friday Night Lights‘ start Kyle Chandler was being considered to play Cable:

Obviously, that goes against the rumor that Miller wasn’t on board with what Reynolds and screenwriting duo Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick wanted. And despite those rumors of the set being a hostile work environment, Miller said it was the best experience for him, and has no ill-will towards anyone he has worked with:

It seems almost disappointing that Miller and Reynolds couldn’t find any common ground, but here we are, the two have gone their separate ways. As long as the two can make peace with each other, we can finally move past all these rumors and look forward to Deadpool 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog.
