Zack Snyder To Direct ‘The Last Photograph’ Before ‘Justice League 2’
  |  @   |

Zack Snyder has directed two out of the three DCEU films that have been released so far. Next year will see the release of his third DCEU film, Justice League. But before he will direct its sequel, he will be taking a break from that world by directing something a bit more grounded. A new report says he has lined up his long-in-development thriller The Last Photograph, a film set in war-torn Afghanistan. More on the story below.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Justice League 2 is being pushed back to make room for Ben Affleck’s standalone Batman film, which is rumored to be called The Batman. With Warner Bros. making that move, it also gives time for Snyder to work on his passion project and a little break from the superhero movie universe.

Now that Aquaman has taken one of the two mysterious DCEU dates, it stands to reason that the Untitled DC Film being released on November 1, 2019 will be Justice League 2. With the DC superhero ensemble being pushed back a few more months, it gives time for Snyder to take a break from the DC superhero shared universe. Joss Whedon did this when he released Much Ado About Nothing between Marvel’s Avengers films, and Michael Bay did something very similar when he released both Pain & Gain and 13 Hours in between his Transformers films.

However, the studio has not made such a confirmation nor does THR’s report hint at that possibility. This is pure speculation on my part, and many others as well.

As for The Last Photograph, that film came about after the success of Snyder’s other comic book adaptation, 300. He wrote the script with his longtime colleague Kurt Johnstad. With the script collecting dust, THR says it will get some polishing done. In 2011, Christian Bale and Sean Penn were attached to star in the film. However, now that the script is being brought out again, WB will have to look for new actors.

Here’s how THR describes the film:

Photograph centers on a war correspondent in Afghanistan who is the only one to survive an attack on a group of Americans. When a special ops soldier in search of a family member shows up, the two team up, with the correspondent hoping to score the story of his life.
