Ben Affleck’s ‘The Batman’ On Track For Spring 2017 Start

After Warner Bros. decided to push Justice League 2 to a later date – to give time for Zack Snyder to work on his passion project film, The Last Photograph – it didn’t take long for people to speculate that Ben Affleck‘s Batman, rumored to be titled The Batman, would be taking its June release date.
However, there was no confirmation that it would happen. Until now. The actor recently spoke about the status of his film, talking about the script, when he would start filming, and the reputation he has to uphold. Check out what he had to say below.
Speaking to Variety, while promoting his latest film Live by Night at a tastemakers’ screening, the actor indicated that The Batman would start shooting in the spring, and gave an update on the status of the film:
“We’re on the right track with that and everything is coming together. We’re still finishing up a script. I’m very excited.”
That’s very encouraging news. After all, Affleck was behind the award-winning Argo. The least WB could do is give him the time he needs to develop the script to his standards. Obviously, the filmmaker knows what is at stake when it comes to the Caped Crusader’s legacy on the big screen.
“I respect all of those [Batman] movies. Christopher Nolan did an incredible job, Christian Bale did an incredible job, Tim Burton did an incredible job. At a certain point you have to look forward and try to believe in your own vision for it and not be looking over your shoulder the whole time. I go into that movie with a tremendous amount of respect for the people who came before me.”
Teaming someone like Affleck with Geoff Johns to develop the script has lots of potential for being a great film, at least one of the best that the DCEU has to offer. As we’ve seen before, a lot of these DCEU films have failed to live up to critics’ expectations.
Now that we have a start window, all that is left is to find out when it will be released.
We’ll keep you up to date on the development of Affleck’s Batman film.
