‘Trollhunters’: Trailer and Featurette For Guillermo del Toro’s Animated Netflix Series

DreamWorks' Trollhunters From Guillermo del Toro

The animated Trollhunters project from Guillermo del Toro has been in the works for quite some time now. It began as a movie project set up at Disney way back in 2009—when del Toro was still attached to direct a then two-part adaptation of The Hobbit. In 2010 the movie moved over to DreamWorks Animation, where it remains to this day. However, it was eventually changed from a movie into an animated series coming to Netflix.

The series arrives on Netflix next week, and a new trailer and featurette have been released. The trailer does what trailers do, while the featurette includes some words from del Toro and cast Kelsey Grammer (Frasier), Ron Perlman (Hellboy), Charlie Saxton (Betas), and Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead). You can give them a watch below.

If you missed it, Geeks of Doom was able to chat with the cast at New York Comic-Con in October. You can find those interviews and more right here.

The main character of Trollhunters, named Jim, is voiced by Anton Yelchin. When the actor passed away tragically earlier this year, he had recorded most of his lines but not all of them. But thankfully del Toro decided to go with what he did record instead of bringing in someone new.

Toby, Jim and Claire are just normal kids. Who happen to be chosen by a secret society of trolls to defend their ancient world. No big deal.

A story of ordinary kids turned heroes, set against a visually breathtaking world created by the legendary Guillermo del Toro. Dreamworks Trollhunters comes to Netflix on December 23.
