Netflix has released the first look at Okja, their upcoming South Korean-American action-adventure film from director Bong Joon-ho (Snowpiercer).
Check out the new images here below, along with a storyboard from the 2017 original Netflix film, which was co-written by Joon-ho and Jon Ronson.
Okja stars Tilda Swinton (Doctor Strange), Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler), Paul Dano (Love & Mercy), Lily Collins (Rules Don’t Apply), and Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), and introducing Ahn Seo-hyun as Mija.
The storyboard and ensuing movie still shows the character Red (Lily Collins), an animal rights activist, running through Wall Street in Manhattan. Another still introduces Ahn Seo-hyun’s Mija. There’s also a previously released image from the film of Tilda Swinton and Giancarlo Esposito (Gus Fring from TV’s Breaking Bad) in New York City.
Official Film Synopsis:
Directed by Bong Joon-ho (Snowpiercer) and co-written with Jon Ronson (Frank), Okja follows Mija, a young girl who must risk everything to prevent a powerful, multi-national company from kidnapping her best friend – a massive animal named ‘Okja’.
Okja will get a global release on Netflix in Summer 2017, along with a limited day and date theatrical release in the United States.
