Blackened death/thrash unit Voidhanger have contributed 3 brand new slices of brutality to an upcoming split with fellow miscreants Witchmaster. The collaboration is called Razing the Shrines of Optimism and it hit the streets in December via the Third Eye Temple label.
We here at Geeks of Doom are proud to be able to present to you, on this Black Metal Friday, an exclusive stream of the closing track of Voidhanger’s side of the album. This is “Through the Holocaust of Optimism.” Crank it up and enjoy.

This week, we put current news aside in order to review the annus horribilis that was 2016, and this year, we’re doing something a little different. Instead of merely having a stack-ranked list of top news of the year, we’re gonna make tech news compete for awards, affectionately called The Drill Bits. So put on your tuxes, get in the limo, and roll out the red carpet, “˜cause the show’s about to begin!

While finding out what’s new to Netflix streaming each month is always exciting, those titles will be available for a while. There’s no rush to watch them immediately. You can chill whenever you choose.
On the other end is the far less exciting list of what’s leaving Netflix soon. A list that adds a ticking clock to a bunch of titles you may have been planning on watching. Below you’ll find the Leaving Netflix list for January 2017, so you can binge anything you’ve been meaning to watch before it disappears.
For some gamers, there was no need to go anywhere in the real world. Many people who play the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Star Wars: The Old Republic jumped into that game world, and visited Castle Organa—the ancestral home of House Organa, including Fisher’s Princess Leia, located on the Apalis Coast of the planet Alderaan—to pay their respects. One player even created a character that looks like Leia to be there for the many visiting fans. And some of the players’ characters were considered enemies to House Organa, forcing them to fight through NPCs just to join in the memorial, which they did. Friends and enemies alike stood together in honor of the fallen princess.
Below you can find multiple videos of players gathering at Castle Organa.

Back in 2010 HBO aired a filmed documentary of Wishful Drinking, the late Star Wars star Carrie Fisher‘s autobiographical one-women stage show in which she talks about her life and career. HBO’s special combined the stage show with interviews with family and friends as well as archival footage.
To help celebrate the life of Fisher after her untimely passing earlier this all-around terrible week, HBO has announced that they will be re-airing Wishful Drinking this weekend. The 76-minute special will play this Sunday night, January 1st, at 9PM on the primary HBO channel.
