I think we can all remember our first concert/show, right? If you are an audiophile then I have no doubt you do. Well, KISS: The Demon #1 reminds me of my first show since the headliner was the aforementioned band KISS. Not only were they my first band to see live but, later on, they were the first group I ever went and saw without an adult.

So, to say they hold a special place in my heart is to understate things in an enormous way. The point is, I share that same feeling with the main character of this story, which is a prequel to the ongoing comic.

Staring longingly at an old photo, Sam Blackwell is nearing the end of his long life. Dredging up old memories can be comforting or it can be painful, but most of the time it is a little of both. As we follow the thoughts of this eccentric man, we are able to see some of the people and events that shaped him into the angry, lost soul he has become. But not everyone is ready to face their inner demons.

This particular issue revolves around Blackwell meeting two other teens early in his life. After attending a KISS show in the city his grandfather founded, he befriends these two and quickly becomes close to them. But when tragedy strikes, he finds himself alone and angry. The weight of the world falling on his shoulders, he retreats from them. As to what the future holds for him, we will have to wait for the next issue.
