When we first saw The Batman (Will Arnett) in The LEGO Movie, he was a dark and brooding superhero who did not play well with others. Worst of all, he was playing second fiddle to a nobody. However, the Dark Knight Minifigure believes that he was the reason why The LEGO Movie was such a huge success. And because of that, he is convinced that the world is ready for The LEGO Batman Movie.

A new featurette titled “Behind The Bricks” brings us closer to the characters in the upcoming film. Unlike traditional featurettes, this one interviews the actual characters as Minifigures. Check it out here below.

The featurette is done a la reality TV confessional where the character talks to the camera. It sees Robin (Michael Cera) constantly idealizing his Padre, Batgirl (Rosario Dawson) revealing why Gotham City should work with Batman instead of against him, Alfred (Ralph Fiennes) finally happy to see a movie that reveals another side to the man he has loyally served, and Lego Joker (Zach Galifianakis) explaining how he jumped at the chance to be in the film when the studio asked him to be the main villain.

There are also non-speaking appearances from Harley Quinn (Jenny Slate) and the rest of the members of the Justice League.

The video is a nice piece to the marketing campaign that stays true to the vein of The LEGO Movie. It’s funny and captures the child-like wonder of what the world could be like with millions of LEGO blocks at your disposal.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

In the irreverent spirit of fun that made “The LEGO® Movie” a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure: “The LEGO® Batman Movie.” But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.

Directed by Chris McKay, The LEGO Batman Movie will open in theaters on February 10, 2017.
