The excitement for Godzilla: King of Monsters is about to go up to Eleven. That’s because Stranger Things star and rapping extraordinaire Millie Bobby Brown will be joining Legendary’s long-awaited Godzilla sequel. More on the story below.
THR was one of the first to report on the news. Plot details are being kept under tight wraps, so we don’t know how much, if anything, has changed since Gareth Edwards left the project. When we last heard about the sequel at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con, Edwards teased the appearance of legendary kaiju Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah.
Michael Dougherty (Trick r Treat) and Zach Shields (Krampus) penned the script. Dougherty will direct.
Brown is best known for her role as Eleven (or El) in Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things. She plays an Eggo waffle-loving telekinetic who was the subject of numerous shadowy government experiments. The show has earned a Golden Globe nomination, while Brown has earned nominations for SAG and People’s Choice awards.
Godzilla: King of Monsters is a part of Legendary’s King of Monsters universe. The universe will expand with the upcoming Kong: Skull Island, which will open in theaters this March. Godzilla: King of Monsters hits theaters March 22, 2019.
