Geek Peek: First Images Of ‘Sherlock’ Star Martin Freeman In Zombie Drama ‘Cargo’
  |  @   |

The first official images have been released for Cargo, an upcoming zombie drama starring Martin Freeman (Sherlock, The Hobbit, Fargo) as a man trying to protect his infant daughter after a pandemic ravages humanity.

If this sounds familiar, it’s because the movie is based on the short film of the same name that was released in 2013, which was a finalist of the Tropfest Australia 2013 short film festival. You can watch the short right here if you have not seen it and are interested.

Continue below for more and to see the images.

The images come via Bloody-Disgusting, who also shared a description of Cargo‘s story:

[The movie follows] a father who, stranded in rural Australia in the aftermath of a violent pandemic and, infected himself, desperately seeks a new home for his infant child and a means to protect her from his own changing nature.

Salvation may lie with an isolated Aboriginal tribe, but to gain access he must first earn the allegiance of a young Indigenous girl on a tragic quest of her own.

Both the feature and the short film it’s based on were written and directed by Yolanda Ramke, with Ben Howling co-directing.

Also starring along with Freeman is Anthony Hayes, Susie Porter, Caren Pistorius, Kris McQuade, Simone Landers, and David Gulpilil.
