The LEGO Batman Movie Gotham Cribs

We are one week away from the release of The LEGO Batman Movie, the spinoff to The LEGO Movie. Will Arnett returns to voice the Dark Knight Minifigure, who is profoundly dark and brooding. Michael Cera joins him as Robin, the Boy Wonder, while Rosario Dawson will voice Barbra Gordon, aka Batgirl.

Last week, we saw a video that took us behind the scenes of the making of the film. Now a new featurette gets into the bricks of things by taking us to the film’s setting, Gotham City – which is built by LEGO bricks, of course – for an episode of “Gotham Cribs.” Check out the video below.

Unlike any of the trailers or featurettes we’ve seen in the past, “Gotham Cribs” seems specifically designed to show us the LEGO World and the bricks that they are built with. In fact, it doesn’t look like any footage from the marketing campaign is being used. As for the video itself, it is shot in the same vein as MTV Cribs. For those who don’t remember, MTV Cribs was a reality show where celebs gave us a tour of their house, the pool, game room, garage, and most importantly, what is in their fridge. So it’s not a huge surprise that the featurette feels a lot like that.

It’s highly unlikely that LEGO would release a model of Bruce Wayne’s mansion – or Batman’s attic – anytime soon. Although, I can see how it may inspire a few master builders to take on the task or replicating it. I mean the pool, the kitchen, the gym, all of it looks like something a diehard LEGO fan would want to build. Hopefully, that person has the room and the cash, and most importantly, the time to make it all happen. Admit it, you want to see someone build it.

The film also features the voice talents of Zach Galifianakis, Ralph Fiennes, and Jenny Slate.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

In the irreverent spirit of fun that made The LEGO Movie a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble””LEGO Batman””stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.

Directed by Chris McKay, The LEGO Batman Movie hits theaters February 10.
