Castle Rock

Hulu already has one series based on the work of Stephen King and produced by J.J. Abrams, 11.22.63. Now another one is on the way.

The streaming service has ordered 10 episodes of a new series titled Castle Rock from King and Abrams, through Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television. The title is the same name as the fictional town in Maine many of King’s stories are set in, part of his shared overall multiverse. The series will be set in that same multiverse. The new project from King and Abrams was first announced a few days back, followed by today’s confirmation of the number of episodes ordered.

You can read more about the show and check out a recently released teaser for it below.

DESCRIPTION:

A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. Castle Rock is an original suspense/thriller “” a reimagining that explores the themes and worlds uniting the entire King canon, while brushing up against some of his most iconic and beloved stories.

Castle Rock was developed by Manhattan creator and Masters of Sex writer Sam Shaw, along with Lie to Me and Manhattan writer and executive producer Dustin Thomason. Shaw and Thomason will also serve as writers on the series, and will executive produce alongside Abrams, Ben Stephenson, and Liz Glotzer.

Some of the works of Stephen King which are set in the town of Castle Rock include The Dead Zone, Cujo, The Dark Half, Needful Things, and The Body (which was adapted into the movie Stand by Me).

Production on Castle Rock is scheduled to begin later this year, and it will run exclusively on Hulu here in the States, with Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution handling distribution global distribution.
