First Teaser For Netflix’s ‘Bright’ Starring Will Smith, Elves, Orcs, and More
  |  @   |

Netflix has released a teaser for their fantasy-meets-reality original movie Bright, which stars Will Smith as a cop on patrol in an alternate present-day in which humans, elves, orcs, and fairies live among each other.

The movie comes from Fury and Suicide Squad director David Ayer, who re-unites with Smith for the project. The teaser is brief, only running a little over 30 seconds in length, but does include some good peeks at the strange and intriguing movie.

Continue below to read more about Bright and watch the teaser.

The movie looks a bit like End of Watch was thrown into a blender with some favorite fantasy beings. Ayer also wrote and directed End of Watch, so this makes plenty of sense.

It’s a perfect example of why Netflix evolving the way it has been is so great for movie fans. This is the type of bonkers flick we might not have ever seen if not for them. You’re not going to meet with many big movie studios and say “I want to make a cop movie set in Los Angeles, but with elves and orcs in it” and have them throw money at you. Unless they’re chucking spare change they found in their pockets to get you out of their office. And yet here it is. A real thing we’re actually going to get to see. Hopefully it’s as fun and crazy as it looks.

SYNOPSIS:

Set in an alternate present-day where humans, orcs, elves, and fairies have been co-existing since the beginning of time. Bright is genre-bending action movie that follows two cops from very different backgrounds. Ward (Will Smith) and Jakoby (Joel Edgerton), embark on a routine patrol night and encounter a darkness that will ultimately alter the future and their world as they know it.

Bright is directed by David Ayer (Training Day, End of Watch, Suicide Squad) stars Will Smith (Men in Black), Joel Edgerton (The Great Gatsby), Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Lucy Fry (11.22.63), Edgar Ramirez (Hands of Stone, Zero Dark Thirty), Margaret Cho (Drop Dead Diva), and Ike Barinholtz (Suicide Squad). The movie is written by Max Landis (Chronicle) and produced by Ayer, Eric Newman (Narcos) and Bryan Unkeless (The Hunger Games).

Bright will be released on Netflix in December.
