In the past few weeks, the Disney marketing team has been releasing clips for Beauty and the Beast. These clips are not spoilers considering that it had Emma Watsonsinging “Belle” and Josh Gadsinging “Gaston.” So these clips are just pure nostalgia in a sense that it reminds us of why we loved the animated film so much.
Now we are getting yet another clip which recalls the first moment that Beast (Dan Stevens) asks Belle over for some dinner. Check it out below.
Again, this clip isn’t so much of a spoiler. Part of what makes these released clips so ingenious is that we’ve already seen it, at least in its animated form. The familiar scene will obviously resonate with fans who’ve watched the animated film over and over again. But now that we are seeing it in live-action, we get to see all the VFX that bring the Beast to life. Of course, there was some initial worry about the Beast very early on when we saw him in the first trailer. But that was when the effects were unfinished. Now that the film is just a few short weeks away from release, we are getting a better look at the finished product.
So what better way for the audiences to get reacquainted with the film than to see him try to be charming. Of course, as fans would know, it doesn’t go quite as planned. Still, it gives us a sense of Stevens’ performance. We also get to see and hear Ewan McGregor as Lumière, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette.
The film also stars Luke Evans as Gaston, Kevin Kline as Maurice, Stanley Tucci as Cadenza, Audra McDonald as Garderobe, and Ian McKellen as Cogsworth.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action adaptation of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.
Beauty and the Beast opens in theaters on March 17th.
