‘DuckTales’ Reboot Trailer Reminds Us Of Our Childhood
  |  @   |

As a child of the ’90s, I fondly remember watching Disney cartoons from Tale Spin and Rescue Rangers to Darkwing Duck. But I imagine there isn’t as big a classic as DuckTales. The series has now been rebooted, since that is the norm nowadays, and it has managed to assemble quite a cast of comedians. From Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz, and Bobby Moynihan, who will voice Huey, Dewey, and Louie respectively, to David Tennant who will voice Scrooge McDuck. Other talents include Beck Bennett as Launchpad McQuack, and Kate Micucci as Webby.

We previously saw the cast sing the classic theme song, but there wasn’t much else. Now a new trailer has popped up online giving us our first look at the upcoming revival. Check it out below.

The animation is a stark departure from its hand-drawn iteration. Obviously, the hand-drawn animation medium is a bit dated, and not one that fits into the current trend. That being said, I really do miss hand-drawn work. As they say, the devil is in the details, and there is far less detail in the upcoming reboot as opposed to the original one that had more aesthetic to it. Still, if the narrative material is good enough, I think fans can overlook the animation style.

That being said, it should be interesting to see how this series will differ from the original. While it looks like they will keep the adventuring aspect, the tone seems a little bit different. A lot has changed since the first series ended, so I imagine that this DuckTales would be fit for a more contemporary audience, while also still having a few nods for fans who still remember the original. Of course, that song is a big tip off that it won’t stray too far away from the original source material.

No release date has been announced yet, but we will keep you up to date on when that happens.

  1. The new song sucks and kids’ voice acting is terrible.

  2. Why do we crap things up to appeal to kids who can’t be pried away from mobile devices? Our childhood was far better. Why not try to show them how life could be if people quit “rebooting” everything only to make far inferior versions?

  3. And the kids’ animation… plus they’ve seemed to age a little.
