Netflix Spotlights Marvel’s ‘Iron Fist’ Female Lead For International Women’s Day
  |  @   |

Today is International Women’s Day, an observance that celebrates the importance of women and their place in the world. However, women still continue to fight for equality. While the struggle may be real, you can find inspiration from strong women everywhere, including in pop culture. So it seems like the perfect time for Netflix to release an Iron Fist featurette centering on the female lead Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick).

Check out the featurette here below.

The featurette reveals Wing’s strength in very short bursts. From the physical to the mental, we see that Wing is a strong women with self-control. However, she does tend to lose that for a bit when she gets a first taste of an underground fight club and reputation she could get from winning her fights. Still, the video is a great way to get us to know who she is and what her motivations are.

Pretty soon, she crosses paths with Danny Rand (Finn Jones), and although she is hesitant to take him up as a student, she is intrigued by the power he possesses. Rand is equally interested in knowing more about her as he has never seen a fighter like her before.

All of this will play into the “is it fate” trope, as they soon start to realize that they need each other more than they realized. While we don’t know the answer to that yet, we will see the two again in the upcoming Defenders series, and depending on its success, Season 2 of Marvel’s Iron Fist.

Netflix will release all 13 episodes of Marvel’s Iron Fist on March 17, 2017.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

Billionaire Danny Rand (Finn Jones) returns to New York City after being missing for years, trying to reconnect with his past and his family legacy. He fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.
