Eva Green In Talks For Tim Burton’s Live-Action ‘Dumbo’
  |  @   |

Disney’s live-action remake of their 1941 animated classic Dumbo, which is set to be directed by Tim Burton, may have lost Will Smith as a potential star recently, but it appears to have found a new one.

It’s being reported that Eva Green, who starred in Burton’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and Dark Shadows, has entered into negotiations to star in the movie.

If a deal gets worked out, which is likely considering Green’s history with Burton, she will be playing one of the three main adult roles in the movie. Smith was up for another one of these adult roles, the father of two children who become friends with the elephant known for his large ears. Another actor who’s been mentioned is Tom Hanks, who is said to have been offered the role of the film’s villain, though there’s no word if he’s still a possibility or if he’s even interested in the role.

The original Dumbo told the story of a young elephant who is teased for his unusually big ears, but who eventually discovers that he can use those ears to fly.

The screenplay for is written by Ehren Kruger, who is also a producer on the project alongside Justin Springer (TRON: Legacy, Oblivion). Kruger has previously worked on the scripts for The Ring and sequel The Ring Two, The Brothers Grimm, and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and sequels Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Transformers: Age of Extinction.

Green is also known for her roles in The Dreamers, Kingdom of Heaven, Casino Royale, The Golden Compass, 300: Rise of an Empire, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, and Penny Dreadful.

The actress can next be seen in Roman Polanski’s Based on a True Story, Euphoria with Alicia Vikander, and Vita and Virginia with Gemma Arterton.
