Man In The High Castle’s ‘Resistance Radio’ Launched; Angry Trump Fans Think It’s Real
  |  @   |

Amazon recently launched Resistance Radio, a digital radio station created as a companion to their award-winning streaming television series The Man in the High Castle, which is based on the book by Philip K. Dick. High Castle‘s story is set in an alternate dystopian world where, after losing World War II, the United States is divided and occupied by two powers — Greater Nazi Reich and the Japanese Pacific States — and its oppressed people live in fear under totalitarian rule. From the country’s lawless neutral zone, a pirate radio station has emerged to keep the memory of the former America alive and to fight back against the current regime.

As io9 discovered, interestingly enough, soon after Resistance Radio was launched, some supporters of U.S. President Trump (the actual current president of the United States of America) took to social media to express their outrage at the new anti-fascism and anti-Nazi propaganda radio station. Not only did they believe that the station was real, but that it was somehow anti-Trump; therefore, they were offended by its existence and what they referred to as its “liberal agenda.”

Some quotes below in case some of the Twitter posts are eventually removed:

“#ResistanceRadio ? Good luck outpacing @rushlimbaugh @marklevinshow @seanhannity @toddschnitt @theblaze and others. The airwaves are ours.”

“What is this Left Wing Loonie #ResistanceRadio nonesense? Are they still resisting facts like Trump is President & Crooked may go 2 prison?”

“Getting tired of “the resistance”. What are they resisting? They would rather USA fail then admit Trump does anything good. #ResistanceRadio”

“#ResistanceRadio I love all this resistance. Keep it coming. Trump is gonna cruise to a second term.

LISTEN in as Snowflakes bitch about Our President…Even tho he’s Making🇺🇸Great & getting shit done like he said he would.. #ResistanceRadio

What exactly are these people resisting anyway? It’s seems that if they want Trump to fail, they take America with them too #ResistanceRadio

Let’s pretend this was a real radio station; that would mean, to these people, that being against Nazi propaganda and against fascism is also being anti-Trump. Hmm… that says something about them, doesn’t it?

Anyhow, Amazon couldn’t have hoped for a better reaction. This outrage from Trump supporters for a viral marketing campaign for a fictional television series has only helped to put a spotlight on the radio station and on The Man in the High Castle, which is now in its second season (which I recommend everyone watches — and should read the book, too).

You can tune into the radio show at ResistanceRadio.com, which features storytelling, along with classic 1960s songs reimagined for the world of High Castle by modern-day performers. The music playlist is below, along with a video of Sam Cohen’s cover of The Animals’ “The House of the Rising Sun.”

From the world of the Amazon Original Series The Man in The High Castle, based on Philip K. Dick’s award-winning book, comes an inventive new music and audio storytelling experience that you are one of the first to hear.

Amazon Prime Video presents: Resistance Radio. Premiering MARCH 6, 2017 at ResistanceRadio.com and on Amazon Echo and other Alexa-enabled devices.

The year is 1962. America stands divided and controlled by the Greater Nazi Reich in the East and the Japanese Pacific States in the West. Seventeen years after the Allied Powers lost World War II, people in this America are living in fear and oppression. But between these opposing political powers lies a lawless “neutral zone,” where a fledgling “Resistance” movement struggles to fight back.

Hijacking airwaves, a secret network of DJs broadcast messages of hope to keep the memory of a former America alive. Decentralized and operating undercover “” broadcasting from basements, boats and pickup trucks “” they transmit their signals across the country by way of shortwave radio. Using music to hearten the spirits of the hopeless, they play bootleg songs that are performed and played in makeshift studios with obsolete equipment. Proof that the spirit of rock and roll is not dead. Being on-air is dangerous, yet the desire to reach the resigned is something these DJ’s can’t resist.

This is Resistance Radio.

17 years after America lost WW2, the country is divided and controlled by Japan and Germany. But the airwaves can’t be silenced. From out of the lawless neutral zone comes Resistance Radio, a secret network of pirate DJs broadcasting sounds of hope that keep the memory of a former America alive. Watch the Resistance Radio music video featuring Sam Cohen’s “Housing of the Rising Sun.”

The folks at Amazon Prime Video sent me some subversive materials disguised as a Nazi propaganda Children’s Songbook for Character Building. Inside was a vinyl record containing the Sam Cohen song; there was even instructions on how to turn the cardboard insert into a record player.
