Honest Trailers Presents Disney’s ‘Beauty and The Beast’ (1991)

With Emma Watson and Dan Stevens prepared to break the bank this weekend starring in the new live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, it only makes sense for the gang at Screen Junkies to use the original 1991 classic for their Honest Trailers selection this week.

Watch the video here below.

Narrator Jon Bailey immediately hits a home run because I’ve been saying for years how crazy it is that Beast was only TEN when he was cursed. I have a 13-year-old son, they’re all jerks half the time, but that doesn’t mean they should be CURSED for life! Sorry, rant over. He also hits on another funny quirk, as Beast was a Prince in a ridiculous castle, but seemingly no one in the town knows they’re in a kingdom, or who the royal heir even is. Ah, Disney.

So gloss over the fact that Belle is essentially kidnapped and held against her will by a giant dog-man, and ignore that she’s obviously suffering from severe Stockholm Syndrome, and sit and relax for one of Disney’s best, and the first animated film to be nominated for Best Picture. It lost to Silence of the Lambs, another film that is disturbingly similar”¦ a “Buffalo” man kidnaps women and holds them in dungeons against their will”¦ okay, it’s a stretch. But it’s golden-age Disney, so we’re here for the songs, as the video points out: “I’m Too Good For This Place” song, I mean yeah, Belle is kinda a jerk to the townsfolk there. “There goes the baker, oh man, I hate him!” HA HA. There’s also the classic “Psych Yourself Up” song about Belle realizing she may be in line for uncomfortable beastly lovemaking, and of course “Please Call the Police” (sing as “Beauty and the Beast”)… I nearly spit-taked on that one.

Starring: I Pity Le Fou, Furry Guy in a Little Coat, This French Guy’s on Fire (Lumiere), and It’s Always 4:35 Somewhere (Cogsworth)”¦ New Title: Saved by the Belle. Screen Junkies have just under 6 million YouTube subscribers and release new Honest Trailers every Tuesday. Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast hits theaters Friday, March 17, 2017.
