‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ Trailer: Bring On The Bayhem
  |  @   |

Paramount has released the newest trailer for Michael Bay‘s Transformers: The Last Knight. The film is the fifth installment of the franchise. It is also the fifth and final Transformers film to be directed by Bay, who has been with the franchise since 2007.

Not to anyone’s surprise, but there is hardly anything resembling a story in this trailer, and there probably won’t be one in the film. There will, however, be plenty of Bayhem, with a few characters returning to the series plus one more new one that isn’t afraid of these mechanical creatures, no matter the size difference. Check out the trailer below.

The trailer first appeared on the film’s YouTube page. What lacks in story, Bay makes up for in explosive nonsensical action. It doesn’t matter if there is a real plot to these films, as long as we see Autobots, Decepticons, and Dinobots fighting, we are in.

But what is interesting about this trailer is that they are really pushing the girl power message. For a franchise that has been criticized for oversexualizing its female characters, it’s a little bit surprising to see that it took four films to do an about face. Honestly, I hope that we really do get to see Isabela Moner be a strong and capable female character in the entire movie, it’s really long overdue that we get to see a female character that isn’t objectified in these films. Otherwise, this whole “fight like a girl” thing that we are seeing snippets of would be utterly meaningless.

Here’s the official synopsis for Transformers: The Last Knight:

The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise, and redefines what it means to be a hero. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock).

The film sees the return of Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, and Tyrese Gibson. It also welcomes newcomers Laura Haddock, Anthony Hopkins, and Santiago Cabrera.

Transformers: The Last Knight opens in theaters on June 23, 2017.
